Snapdragon 835 chipset : future of the mobile technology


One must understand the heart of a mobile is its processor , When you are looking for a high performing device you must look beyond the exterior beauty of a mobile phone and make sure it has the heart of a dragon. This is the part which is not visible on the outside but this is something which packs the real power. A processor gives you the power to multitask , play hi-def games ,immerse yourself in virtual reality, take amazing photos or shoot 4K or HD videos and watch hi definition movies with battery life to last more than a day.

A good processor can give you the power to any task with utmost ease. For a high performance device you need a high performing heart and soul. I have recently come across the most high powered processor which is going to be used in most of the high end phone's which are going to be launched in 2017. Samsung have already launched Samsung S8 with Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835 mobile platform With an advanced 10-nanometer design.

What is Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835?

Snapdragon 835 is the new high-end SoC and is the successor to Snapdragon 821. Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835 mobile platform With an advanced 10-nanometer design can deliver amazing performance. It is the smallest chip produced so far by Qualcomm which is probably the size of a coin. The small size allows the chip to be used in the thinner high end phones. It allows the phones to be thinner and beautiful. The main aim of Snapdragon 835 is to provide improved battery life with greater power.

As per Qualcomm® "It is 35% smaller and uses 25% less power than previous designs, and is engineered to deliver exceptionally long battery life, lifelike VR and AR experiences, cutting-edge camera capabilities and Gigabit Class download speeds".

Snapdragon 835 comes with 8 cores Qualcomm® Kryo™ 280 CPU resulting in highly efficient multi-tasking. Its 64-bit Architecture with a Clock Speed Up to 2.45 GHz.

GPU

Adreno 540 GPU uses same basic architecture as the Adreno 530 in Snapdragon 820. According to Qualcomm, "Adreno 540 GPU delivers up to 25% faster graphics rendering and 60x more display colors compared to previous designs, the Qualcomm® Adreno™ 540 GPU supports real-life-quality visuals for exciting immersive experiences". but this is not clear wheather the improved performace is due to any changes in the architecture. As per some of the sites claim Adreno 540 is clocking @ 710 MHz and  Adreno 530 is clocking @ 624 MHz, but there are no clear evidences to account for the claimed  25% increase in performace are there from the last processor. Adreno 540 also supports all the API's like OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 full ,Vulkan and DX12.

Hexagon DSP

Hexagon 682 DSP also receives an upgrade over last Hexagon 680 DSP enables CPU to offload tasks for efficient processing , it also features Qualcomm All-Ways Aware sensor hub and Hexagon Vector eXtensions (HVX) which can handle heavy image and video processing task and provide optimal efficiency. Hexagon 682 is designed to improve performance and battery life.
